Skin Cancer Awareness – simple tips and sunscreen questions.

According to the American Cancer Society there are nearly 12,000 deaths a year attributed to skin cancer – and more that 2 million skin cancer diagnoses each year.

The most basic tip is to be smart about the time you spend in the sun – avoid the middle of the day, and don’t spend too much time in the sun in one swoop.

What about sunscreen?  Sunscreen is a great tool; but it isn’t perfect.  Most will block out the vitamin D that we naturally absorb from the sun’s rays – a vitamin that plays a large role in our well-being.  Along with some of the questionable ingredients in sunscreens that may have very negative side-effects to our bodies – it is best to do your own research to find a brand of sunscreen that you can feel good about using.

Who would think that sunscreen could be a bad thing?  That is why I included a section on it in my book Wellness Wisdom.
